Miles Pepper

The Chase Gallery recently had a gallery opening, presenting the kinetic sculptures of Miles Pepper. There is a receiption however tomorrow at the Chase Gallery between 5-8. From the Spokane Arts Calendar Posting:

The Chase Gallery presents the kinetic sculpture of Miles Pepper. Miles Pepper creates large scale public works fabricated from aluminum and stainless steel. His exhibition in the Chase Gallery will be a rare opportunity to see twelve pieces of his sculpture representing Pepper’s twelve years in public art. The exhibition will show scale models, reproductions of projects both finished and while under construction, fabrication test samples, and various presentation materials and drawings.

Some really quality work, might want to get on over and check it out. More info can be found HERE. Pepper is extremely talented, there’s a myriad of higher resolution images showing his various installation pieces all over goggle. Check ‘em out.

The Singing, Ringing Tree

February 4, 2008

I like sculpture, I like sculpture even more than does some awesome like the “tree” in the video. According to the youtube notes: Commissioned by a forward thinking Burnley Council, The collection of tubes makes the strangest sounds when the wind blows, which is often round the location at Crown Point, on the moorland overlooking Burnley. Spokane has prime places for art like this. I’d be great to see some installations pieces pop up in the pacific north west as well.
