Gallery Opening – Gallery of Thum – March 7th

Put on your critics hat and get ready for First Friday galleries. (I totally forgot it was coming up.) Seems the Gallery of Thum will be having a opening on First Friday, according to their craigslist post. The opening will feature Irene Dahl’s artworks on Copper, Marsha Marcuson’s watercolors on paper and Angelica de Chiara Hardin’s Italian art. The installation will be setup on the 5th so if you want to head in for early viewing you can. Follow this link for their location.

Getty Images Bought for $2 Billion

The AP is reporting (via Newsvine) that private equity firm Hellman & Friedman LLC has offered $2 billion for Seattle company Getty Images. Those of us in the design industry who have spent more than our fair share of time at Getty’s site wonder if anything will change…
Nicholas Francisco Update

The search continues in regards of Nicholas’ disappearance. You should be going to MailPen.net to get the most frequent updates, however I am seeing a lot of traffic related to this situation so I figured I’d make a quick post and try to keep funneling traffic that way.
The reward is now at 15,000 dollars and the story has gone national now, Christine Francisco, Nicholas’ wife was on Fox news On the Record with Greta this morning, reports say she will be on Nancy Grace tonight. ABC News also is now running the story

World’s First Album Cover Cooler Than The Majority Of Modern Ones

Engadget posted this, but it was found by them on Undependent. It was too cool not to post. Before Alex Steinwess created this historical gem for the Rodgers and Hart LP, records were sold in brown kraft paper sleeves. Pretty cool to be able to see what started such a frenzy. If only the majority of todays album covers could be half as stylish and cool. There are more scans at undependent I suggest you check them out.

Father & Friend Missing Since the 13th

Nick is a friend of mine and freelance coworker who currently resides in the Seattle area, he’s a married father of two with a thrid on the way and an extemely talented designer. He has been missing since the 13th.
He was on his way home to make valentines cookies with his four year older daughter and was going to stop at a Safeway. He hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Below is the poster that has been placed all over the Seattle Area. Click on it for a bigger size. Figure we of Spokane are close enough to keep an eye out. Please keep him in your minds and prayers.
UPDATE: Still no trace of him. According to KOMO he hasn’t used his phone or bank account. Full story here. I’ll post more as I find it.

Okay, I am breaking the rules now. I know we always talk about when we do Free on Craigslist that we only look at the Free Section posts with images. Normally we do. However while browsing, I found todays gem and it begged to be todays selection. So instead of having a picture I went ahead and just copied the body of the post:

Yes folks. Diapers. Adult diapers. 1/11th of a package apparently. At first I thought it to be a joke. But when you read the post it seems somewhat legit, if not quite creepy. The desire for hasty contact not only ads to the seemingly legitimate tone but also ads to the bizarre.
If you’re a poor soul stricken with incontinence would you want to respond to this ad? I sure as hell wouldn’t. Only in Spokane I suppose.
